Hephaestus Books represents a new publishing paradigm, allowing disparate content sources to be curated into cohesive, relevant, and informative books. To date, this content has been curated from Wikipedia articles and images under Creative Commons licensing, although as Hephaestus Books continues to increase in scope and dimension, more licensed and public domain content is being added. We believe books such as this represent a new and exciting lexicon ! in the sharing of human knowledge. This particular book is a collaboration focused on South Korean musical theatre actors.Using neutron and synchrotron x-ray scattering techniques, a few exemplary materials are studied in which quantum spins or frustrated magnetic interactions yield exotic states and phase transitions. YMn2O5 undergoes two ferroelectric and magnetic order transitions at low temperatures. Prior to this work, a neutron powder diffraction study reported that two ferroelectric phases have almost collinear magnetic structures, which led to a magneto-striction model for the origin of magnetic ferroicity in this system. Our four-circle neutron diffraction and polarized neutron diffraction measurements on a single crystal of YMn 2O5, on the other hand, showed that both ferroelectric phases have spiral magnetic structures. Our results support another theory based on the inverse Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interactions and pose an important constraint on theories of multi! ferroicity. Progress in the field of quantum magnetism has alw! ays been moderated by the availability of suitable spin 1/2 materials that have been mostly based on Cu2+ ions. Very recently, new quantum magnets based on Cr 5+ ions have been discovered in the form of A3Cr2 O8 (A = Ba and Sr). Using inelastic neutron scattering, Green's function, and random phase approximation techniques, we have characterized the effective spin-Hamiltonian of Ba3Cr2O8. Our results clearly show that Ba3Cr2O8 is a good model system for weakly-coupled s = 1/2 quantum spin dimers. Using inelastic synchrotron x-ray scattering, we have searched possible phonon anomalies that might be associated with the origin of the phase transitions in the frustrated magnet CdCr2O4. This was to address the issue of whether or not static as well as dynamic spin-lattice coupling is part of the mechanism leading to the phase transition. Our results showed that a phonon mode around 45 meV splits into two as the crystal structure changes from cubic to tetragonal. However, the splitting in! the tetragonal phase can be well reproduced by a rigid ion model with the same force constants as used for the cubic phase. This means that the phonon anomaly may not be evidence for spin-phonon coupling in this material as previously claimed. With its specific focus on Asia, this anthology constitutes an excursion into the realm of transversality, or the state of 'postethnicity,' which, the book argues, has come to characterize the global culture of our times. Hwa Yol Jung brings together prominent contemporary thinkers--including Thich Nhat Hanh, Edward Said, and Judith Butler--to address this fundamental and important aspect of comparative political theory. The book is divided into three parts. Part One demythologizes Eurocentrism, deconstructing the privilege of modern Europe as the world's cultural, scientific, religious, and moral capital. Part Two traces the rise of Asian thought and the process of East-West cultural hybridization, while Part Three introduces the c! oncept of the 'global citizen.' Jung's anthology reveals a pos! tmodern multiculturalism whose new philosophical matrix transgresses the existing cultural and intellectual typology to offer new understanding of today's pluralistic world.Hephaestus Books represents a new publishing paradigm, allowing disparate content sources to be curated into cohesive, relevant, and informative books.
